New court of Dmitriy Dashkevich
Dmitriy Dashkevich’s lawyer Alexandr Galiev stated that the trial would start on the 6th of November and would be held in the regime of closed hearing.
Dashkevich who is serving 1.5 years in Shklov prison for the participation in the name of unregistered organization is accused under article 402 CC “The refuse to give testimonial evidence” against his friends from Maladoi Front.
According to this article he could be sentenced to maximum half a year.
Trial of detained oppositionists rescheduled
Trial of yesterday detained activists Pavel Baranousky and Alyaksei Shidlousky which was to be held today at the Partizansky district court of Minsk has been rescheduled for 8 August.
The hearing of the case has been rescheduled for the KGB staff-members who committed the detainment to be called to the court as the witnesses. It became known that Pavel Baranousky was charged of applying the stickers and Alyaksei Shidlousky was blamed for minor public disorder actions (swearing) taken directly at the militia department. The latter case evoked Judge Alena Tsitsynkova’s surprise”What was he actually detained for?”
Their cases are to be held 8 August at 2.30 p.m. The detained were made to give a non-departure signed statement.
Zmitser Fedaruk sentenced to 10 nights in prison
Such judgment was made by the Maskousky district court of Minsk. The youth activist was convicted of violating Article 17.1 of the Administrative Code of the Republic of Belarus (minor disorderly conduct).He was charged of swearing in the public place

Alyaksandr Milinkevich hasn’t had a meeting with a political prisoner, one of the leaders of the Young Front Artur Finkevich. During the attempt to talk to the leader of “For Freedom” movement workers of the special settlement forcibly pushed Artur into a police car and left.
To the question of Alyaksandr Milinkevich where Artur Finkevich was taken, policemen said Artur was taken to the Internal Affairs department. Soon after the incident Artur Finkevich’s friends reached him on the phone. He told to them that everything is alright with him, and put the phone down.
Is Dashkevich denied early release?

Belarusians praying for Catholic Church
16 June on the Day of Belarusian Solidarity 150 people gathered at the building of the former Bernardins’ monastery in Minsk. A common prayer was made for returning the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church to the congregation, for disaffirmation of the law on religion and for equal rights of believers of all confessions in Belarus.
Court refused to reinstate in job Tatsyana Sevyarynets
Today Tatsyana Rodzina, judge of Pershamajski district court, read the decree of the court. The court dismissed the claim of the activist of “For Freedom!” movement Tatsyana Sevyarynets to the education department of Pershamajski district of Vitsebsk.
Another attempt to discredit EHU

Protestants start fasting to defend their rights

June 16, 8 p.m. : Prayer service in defense of St. Joseph’s Church
On the Day of Belarusian Solidarity, June 16 at 8 p.m. Belarusians will pray on the stairs of the building of St. Joseph’s church (Cyril and Methodius Street, 4) for return of the building to the Catholic Church.
As we have informed, actions and prayer services in defense of the St. Joseph’s church and a complex of monastery buildings are held daily. Belarusians demand to return the church to Catholics, and not to turn the complex into a hotel.
Activists returned to court and fined
Young activists Henadz Sharakh, Zmitser Lisiyonak, Ales Dzeravyanka and Andrej Danileuski have been detained on June 6 near the building of Pershamajski district of Vitsebsk. They came to the court to support Valery Shchukin who is tried for a criminal offence, and are under investigation themselves. They were detained for holding an unsanctioned rally and insubordination to policemen.
Artur Finkevich’s free time limited
9 June political prisoner was allowed to spend less than two hours out of the commendant’s headquaters. Yesterday major Uladzimir Mikhailau allowed Artur to leave the guarded territory for an hour and half. Protesting against the arbitrary behavior of the authorities the political prisoner refused such like “ mercy”, the Radio Svaboda informs.
Valery Shchukin fined 1.5 million rubles
A well-known human rights activist Valery Shchukin has been sentenced to a fine of 40 basic units (1,240,000 rubles) by a court of Pershamajski district of Vitsebsk. Besides, Valery Shchukin is to pay 250,000 rubles of moral damages for a member of the regional election commission Tatsyana Buevich allegedly insulted by him.
Even children of oppositionists face repressions
Rechytsa bank department No.323 of Belarusbank has secretly taken 539,000 rubles out from the account of 11-year-old Lida Shabetnkik. The girl gets allowance from the state after the death of her mother.
The father of the 11-year-old girl, the chairman of the regional branch of the Social democratic party (Hramada) Aleh Shabetnik said that no one from the bank representatives could explain him why the money had been collected from his daughter’s account. They only told that the money were taken as a fine, Radio Svaboda informs.
Klimau had heart attack in prison
A political prisoner Andrei Klimau told in his letters that on May 21 he had a heart attack in Minsk remand prison No.1. The political prisoner was hospitalized to a Republican prison hospital in Kalvaryjskaya Street in Minsk. Besides, Andrei Klimau wrote that his term in prison was extended for three months.
Why have authorities condescended to the mild sentence for Young Front activists?
Why have the authorities agreed with the light sentence for the Young Front’s activists? What does this step mean in the corridor negotiations with the West ? Criminal Action against Dzyanis Dzyanisau Closed
This fact has been announced by the lawyer of the young activist Pyotr Kavalenka. A criminal action was initiated against Dzyanis Dzyanisau and Tatsyana Elavaya for holding a number of protest rallies in Vitsebsk. They were charged under Article 342 of the Criminal Code (organization of actions which violate public order and counteraction to the authorities). Under this article the guy faces a three-year imprisonment.
Three More Criminal Cases against Oppositionists Dismissed
A criminal actions against opposition activists Alyaksandr Uryuski, Alyaksandra Yasiuk and Natalya Starastsina have been suspended. The investigator needed two months to come to such a conclusion.
Will Andrei Klimau be released?
On June 3 two months will pass since the moment of detention of an opposition leader Andrei Klimau. Law-enforcing agencies are to define a measure of restraint for the politician: is he to be released or to be kept in custody. As we have informed, a few days ago Klimau was placed to a republican clinical hospital because of heart problems.
