Committee for Defence of the Repressed “Salidarnasс” began to work on the 5th of April 2006. Its creation is the answer of political leaders and civil activists to the regime repressions towards citizens who openly claimed their thoughts during the presidential elections 2006.
The aims of the Committee are the following:
- the defence of the right on liberal education
- the defence of the right of citizens to work
- assistance in getting medical aid for repressed and the members of their families
- rendering financial aid for repressed and their families
The Committee consists of two groups: The Council of the Committee and the working group.
The Council of the Committee is strategic and control body, that approves lines of Committee’s activity and that determine current tasks. On the meetings Council decide whether to give help to concrete repressed citizen and form of this help. Council of the Committee accept report of working group for the period of time between the meetings. 
The council consists of leaders of well-known Belarusian organizations and famous Belarusian civic activists.
The working group does the following:
- forming documents for each repressed
- creating data base
- maintains close contact with repressed who asked for help of the Committee
- prepares statistical and analytical materials
- communicates with the embassies of the countries accredited in the Republic of Belarus and in neighboring countries in order to define the forms of support of the repressed citizens of Belarus by the foreign countries
- corresponds with the donors who provide aid to repressed in Belarus (Universities, Political parties, non-governmental organizations, Religious confessions, initiative groups) in Belarus and abroad
- prepares and holds meetings of the repressed, their relatives in order to give moral help and working out the plans of mutual activities
- together with the group of lawyers monitors the facts of repression and forms the so-called : “Black List”
- keeps the contact with Belarusian and foreign mass media
- holds informational companies “Salidarnasc” in and out of the country.
